Chainsaw BAR

The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) is a family of United States automatic rifles designed by John Browning in 1917 and used by the United States, as well as numerous other countries, during the 20th century, with the primary version being the M1918, which is among the lightest production automatic firearms chambered for the .30-06 Springfield.  However, The U.S. Army began phasing out the BAR in the late 1950s and was without a portable light machine gun until the introduction of the M60 machine gun in 1957 and M249 Squad Automatic Weapon in the mid-1980s.

The M1918 is a selective fire, air-cooled automatic rifle using a gas-operated long-stroke piston rod actuated by propellant gases bled through a vent in the barrel. The gun fires from an open bolt and feeds using double-column 20-round box magazines, although 40-round magazines were also used in an anti-aircraft role.

This model in particular sports a chainsaw handle bolted to the forend part, further improving on the original concept of the BAR being fired from the hip ("walking fire”). The barrel was reinforced and received custom sights and muzzle break, the original stock and forend pieces gave place to a lighter polymer substitute to reduce weight (even with most of the stock being sawn off later), and special beta-magazines were made to be used with the firearm, significantly increasing its capacity to one hundred rounds. The weapon also features a very clumsy, custom camouflage made from local flora over a dark gray matte finish.
