Description

The Trooper MK III was the answer Colt had for the decline in its market share because of price increases brought about by the high labor costs inherent in its manufacturing processes. It is a medium frame double-action revolver  with a six-round cylinder that was produced from 1969 to 1982. Intended to be the first major advancement of Colt’s designs since the beginning of the 20th Century, the MK IIIs used a new ‘J’ frame and had no parts interchangeability with older models, and being considered groundbreaking for the vastly improved durability, sintered iron internals (which could be given a special heat treatment, resulting in more wear-resistant composition and could lower labor costs), use of coiled corrosion-resistant stainless steel springs and being the first to employ a state of the art transfer-bar lockwork system (which was not only more sophisticated, but inherently safer due to its superiority to the older hammer-blocking designs)

The MK III series incorporated a number of models, several of which were updates of existing designs and included the venerable Colt Official Police chambered in .38 Special as the basic/entry-level offering, and the Trooper in .357 Magnum. The later, which the "Warhorse" is customized from, is not only capable of firing .357 Magnum rounds, but also .38 Special ammo, however, with the chamber being longer than the case, doing so will leave carbon buildup in it that nees to be frequently cleaned. It also sports classic style engravings in Titanium Nitride (gold like appearance, but more wear-resistant), nacre handles and a longer, octagon shaped barrel, giving this modern weapon a more Old West appeal, being given to army officers with outstanding performance in battles for their services.
