Description

The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is a five-shot, single-action/double-action that fires the a.50 caliber bullet (the .500 S&W Magnum), being built on S&W's largest frame, the X-Frame, which was developed because none of S&W's existing double-action frame designs could handle the muzzle energy and pressures generated by the .500 S&W cartridge. The advanced design of the firearm helps in counteracting recoil felt by the shooter, as the sheer weight of the firearm, use of rubber grips, the forward balance, and the use of a compensator or a full muzzle brake.

It is the most powerful production revolver in the world today, and it is being marketed as being "the world's most powerful handgun", as its bullet weighs 350 gr ( 22.7 g; 0.8 oz) at 1975 feet per second (602 m/s), generating a muzzle energy of over 3,030 foot-pounds force (4.1 kJ).  Like most big caliber handguns, the Model 500 is suitable for sport and hunting applications, with the high energy of these rounds making it possible to hunt extremely large African game successfully.

The denominated “Buster 500” is a blue steel finish model 500 with silver/silvery cylinder, trigger, hammer and compensator that, to increase portability, stability in consecutive shots and for aiming around the corners borrowed the barrel shroud of a S&W 629 Stealth Hunter with an integrated collapsible grip handle very similar to the one in Serbu’s Super Shorty. The original rubber grip was also changed in favor of a more robust one to increase handling while shooting and a blast shield was added to the sides of the cylinder to avoid hot gases to burn anyone’s arm using its forend grip.

I saw a real cool Desert Eagle carbine with buttstock and Scope. Be cool to see a version of the S&W 500 built like that with the fold foregrip.
